I'm not sure but it's been there a while great place to hang out love the shrimp basket
Was told this was the place to go with your dog! We were sat faster then expected the people next to us where super friendly, appetizers came quick. Hammy our waiter had a better bond with our dogs then us. Food took a good long hour to be brought out. They were out of alot of items like strawberry and lobster. Hammy apologized for the wait since we watched other tables that were sat after us get there food. Once food was out hammy walked away. Fish was over cooked, other items where cold on other dishes. Hammy then came back and asked if we wanted to go boxes, we said yes and she came back with one box. Had to ask for more boxes for 3meals.
Long wait on a Saturday evening. Bar was open so you could stand Shem Creek side and wait, but it was a full hr at 6pm. Food was as good as expected, will eat there again
Loved the atmosphere.... very casual dining experience. Great wait staff and the blackened fish sandwich was AWESOME. Online prices are lower than restaurants actual menu but still worth the money. Totally recommend
It was July 4 th . We had to wait 50 minutes to be seated. A birthday dinner for son and his wife and grandson. Food was what he wanted and price was reasonably priced. We did get to watch their 4 th fireworks.
Amazing service! Victoria with the glasses is awesome. Our food was out in less than 5 minutes and everything was perfect! Can't wait to go back.
Over priced drinks at the bar...$17 for two beer, small portions with large portion prices for food. The food is ok, not great and definitely not worth what they charge or the 35 minute wait to be seated. Other people were served faster and the restrooms are disgusting. Very disappointing
Don't miss taking a drive to Shem Creek if you're visiting the Charleston area. Red's is a laid back seafood spot on the waterfront that serves up everything from smoked wings to lobster rolls. Their catch is local and great paired with their fries. They always have drink specials as well. You can dine inside or out, and they have a full bar outside. Great spot for all ages and even the furry friends are welcomed!
COVID Party too many people too close for my comfort - no masks
We stopped here on a whim on vacation and it ended up being the best place we went to on our vacation. Low key and comfortable surroundings, a helpful and friendly staff and food that was out of this world delicious. Prices seemed in line with other venues like this. Cole slaw comes as a side for most meals and I would return there and eat anything as long as it was included in the meal. We will return here someday!
Food was OK, price is fair. Face covering is required to enter during COVID-19 but once you're seated, take it off. We came around 8:40pm. They were about to close the kitchen so they rushed my order through. The food was prepared quickly but my fish fry and wings seemed "over-fried". Everyone tried to wrap up and leave so the service to us was not focused. We had to keep looking for our waitress for condiments and water refill. And it's a bar environment ... not ideal for family with kids.
Place is great inside smelled like a stable. Like legit horse manure, it was wild. Well anyway great rooftop deck especially when the weather's warm. Service pretty mediocre but again can't beat the atmosphere.
So, I didn’t get any photos of the food, but I was more than pleased with getting to have a meal out with my puppy! This place is super dog friendly!!! The food is good too! We enjoyed the Buffalo Shrimp and Nachos with added Seafood. They were great! Our entrees were also great. Perfectly cooked snow crab legs and lobster mac & cheese that had plenty of lobster!!! I’ll be going back for sure.
Lets just say "What a view"and the staff and service were great. The food was fresh and well seasoned! I had the low country boil and it was cooked perfectly. And the prices were very reasonable! I highly recommend this place. I will be back as often as I can.
Tourist trap!!!! The foods all frozen and even though there are shrimp boats lining the entire creek, they somehow dont serve a single dish with local shrimp. Not to mention the service on top of it... bartenders are so rude they make you feel like they dont want your business or even your presence in the building. Luckily these bartneders survive off of tourists bc if they worked in a local spot they wouldnt make a penny with how they serve their customers. The food and bevarage industry is a division of the hospitality industry. So if they are not able to be hospitable while working in the hospitality industry they should prob find a job more suitable for them. If you want really good LOCAL shrimp oysters seafood etc with tbe same dive bar feel, drive 1 whole minute down the road to arts bar & grille...walk even. The walk is well worth it. But if youre really dying for a shem creek view go anywhere else on the creek for better food AND service AND drinks.
Great food, service and atmosphere. Enjoyed the experience and will be back soon!
The food was great but I wanted to say the customer service was excellent. I was there today and I brought my 13 year old daughter well when there waiting on our table my poor child hit that time of the month and she didn’t had nothing. I politely went over to one of the waitress who I wish I asked her name to say thank you on this post (really pretty curly haired brunette) and told her of my daughters situation. She didn’t waste a min and went to the back to see if someone had something she could use. About 15 minutes later she came back and was very sweet and Discrete about handing me the item which I gave to my daughter saving her from extreme embarrassment. I know this isn’t a typical review but I really wanted to say thank you because she took the time and effort to make my daughters day a whole lot better. From the bottom of my heart I wanted to say thank you and that pretty little lady needs a pat in the back from management. She’s a life saver!!!!
We had an awesome time. The weather was beautiful and we asked to eat outside. A storm came up and they moved us multiple times. The staff was great and I felt for them. The food was delicious and hot!
Excellent food. Everything our group ordered was very good.
Great atmosphere. Nachos had some of the best queso family has tasted. Enjoyed by everyone from low country boil to shrimp to chicken fingers.
Great food and drinks. The service was great as well. Really enjoyed our experience here
This is a perfect example of a restaurant that doesn’t care how it treats tourists. We called to make a reservation but they don’t take reservations. We showed up 90 minutes before close with 8 hungry people (6 kids and two adults)on a Monday night and we were turned away because they said the wait was going to be to long. This place was recommended by a local resident but I guess I need to come with a familiar face to be treated right.
Great place, great people, love the ambiance overlooking the water. More important food is delicious with a great selection of choices. Perfect place to eat on a nice day with outside seating. Kid friendly.
Very very good! Loved the shrimp and fried oysters. Everything we eat here is perfect!
So I was wanting fresh seafood for the family and I so we tried this place and the girl who was our waitress was seriously lacking in hospitality. Limping around in her knee wrap and mask she wasn't a great first impression. The Mac and cheese with lobster for 16.00 tasted like it was fresh outta the microwave. We had a bill for over 80.00 and I was tasting everyone's food so I wouldn't judge from the nasty Mac and cheese but they all had food left because it was honestly the worst meal we have had here on vacation but who knows maybe it was a off day. 1 more try and we will review it later...
Our family absolutely LOVES Red's Ice House. We live in the upstate, but we try to go down every couple of months to have dinner. The food is always delicious and we love the atmosphere. If you go, take time to walk along the boardwalk at adjacent Shem Creek Park. It's one of my favorite spots to visit!
Wonderful setting on the water. We've been coming for years, and the food is excellent! We had 4 different meals, and everyone was really pleased!
I love the atmosphere and vibe. It's an awesome rustic waterfront bar/restaurant. I give it 5 stars for atmosphere 5 stars to Trey our bartender. Maybe 3 stars for the foods. Grouper sandwich was great the shrimp and grits were good (the grits were to gritty I mean to gritty) the sauce very very good. The shrimp app I had I was disappointed in and the calamari app was chewy, the remoulade sauce was excellent. The views were awesome. It was a very hot day. If you like a great IPA try Hop Art from north Charleston.
Good food, friendly staff and cold beer. What else,I ask, do you need?
My wife and I had the crab dip and chips, topped with chopped pecans and scallions. Nicely prepared and a good way to start a meal The wife went with the blackened shrimp basket. Ample portion of shrimp and fries for her. I had the low country boil. Tasty enough, but kinda small with only 5 shrimp in the dish. While the food was good, I wasn't very impressed with the staff. Despite a good number of personnel around, it took a looong time to order (had nearly reached the point of leaving). Several times, there was a group of wait staff at the host station just chatting. Bigger issue was the masks. If you are requiring guest to wear them - cutting them off at the door to enforce - then all staff needs to wear them on the floor at all times. Including over the noses. One guy (manager, owner, I dunno) was all over the place, kitchen, behind the bar, on the dining floor. No. Mask.Won't be back.
Great bar, great drinks and great food! Loved the grilled seafood platter and mango daiquiri. Lots of food, hush puppies are a favorite!
The only reason I am giving this restaurant 5 stars is because of the manager and our server Laurel. Laurel worked hard and had to keep apologizing for the kitchens mistake. Thank you all for your hard work and hospitality.
Love this place, po boy sandwich was soooooo gooood. Daughter had the lobster mac n cheese and she said it was amazing. Great service great food and a great scenery.
What a spectacular view!! Red's is located directly on Shem Creek. The atmosphere is friendly and casual. The staff and service is prompt. Our family loves dining here on Monday nights for all you can eat CRAB LEGS. They provide cold beer and fresh local seafood 24/7. You can't get much better than that. If you are a local or visiting the Charleston area - make sure to stop by. You will not be disappointed!
Great place , had shrimp and grits for lunch was a good choice.. nice staff pretty 👧.. A+
Looked in there website for menu and then got there and the waitress was like we haven’t had that in over a year. Then we were celebrating a birthday and they didn’t have one desert. So don’t plan on looking at there menu online and getting what you thought was available and spicy and HOT are 2 different things. Service was good.
Food was good, indoor area smells a bit rough.
Friendly staff with a wonderful waitressing staff! Prices are excellent and the quality of food is superb!
Liked open air dining. Shrimp was delicious...also really good fries. Don't like blue cheese dressing on slaw.
Amazing views, friendly staff, food is alright. I typically only come here for the all you can eat crab legs on monday nights, but I've ventured other days. The rest of the menu is just mediocre to me. There are better options for good seafood.
Went here on vacation. Had a great experience! Service was great. Tjey kept my drink filled the entire time. Everyone liked their food and drinks and it was all at a pretty reasonable price. Watching the pelicans float down the river while eating was also an added bonus. I'll definitely go back if I'm in town again.
Rustic little waterside bar and grill with a varied menu and great prices. Enjoyed our visit here. Will definitely be going back again!
Oh. My. Word. How did I not know of this place? We have visited Charleston several times and have eaten at many restaurants, but Red's Ice House is at the top of our list now! The seafood, drinks, atmosphere, server and staff...perfect! My wife and I shared the Seafood Platter and we were not disappointed. Everything was cooked to perfection! We had a very small wait to be seated, but Red's is taking great caution with their guests during the COVID-19 pandemic. Things were spaced out properly and there is constant sanitizing. Visit Red's today! You'll not be disappointed!
The lady who assisted us at the car rental place recommended we stop at Red’s on our way to Myrtle Beach. What a great recommendation!! Loved sitting outside with the cool breeze coming off the water. We shared the scallop and shrimp baskets for lunch. But the best was enjoying the Cruzan Confusion (pictured here). Highly recommend!!
The atmosphere was friendly and casual , as was the prompt service. We picked a few appetizers to share and we were very pleased with the taste and quality. She's local and I am from Virginia Beach so we love our seafood. And the beer was cold!
My first time at Red's and it was a stupendous experience. Our server Grace was attentive and fast but not overbearing and the Manager Skipper was the epitome of hospitable. The delicious fried seafood platter did not disappoint. The polite and friendly staff are the real appeal though. I hardly ever go to Shem Creek but I will def be returning asap.
Amazing food and atmosphere! Its an absolute must whenever I'm in Charleston.I highly recommend the Lobster Mac and Cheese and the Killer Shrimp (it has a small kick).
I can't say horrible service because we never received any service. We came for lunch when they were not that busy and waited for over 20 minutes sitting down and no one came to even ask us for our drinks. We watched as people that had walked in 5-10 minutes after us that were seated, drink orders taken and food orders taken. We left and they had told us that they were not sure who was supposed to take our table because of a shift change. We walked next door to Tavern & Table and our order was taken within 30 seconds. Great service and food next door.
Went for a dinner mid week. The service was very friendly and accommodating. Didn't rush. Very helpful. This was our first time there. My husband has the scallops and fries, I had shrimp and grits, my son the low country boil. Everything was tasty and well prepared however the low country boil was a little light on the protein given other plates in the same price range. Lots of potatoes and corn, not so much shrimp and sausage. Other than that, a cute place to enjoy a dinner or a game. Would return just wouldn't order the boil again.
This place is amazing. Great drinks and even better food!
Great View while you eat. Food was decent
